Removal & correction policy

How individuals, brands and site owners can dispute a ScamGuard listing, request a correction, or ask for a report to be re-reviewed. This page describes what we can actually do — not what would sound good.

What ScamGuard publishes

ScamGuard publishes a database of domains, phone numbers, WhatsApp numbers and messages that have been reported by users of the ScamGuard checkers, together with observations produced by ScamGuard's AI analysis. Every listing is derived from either (a) a user report or (b) a public signal such as urlscan.io reputation or RDAP registration data. We do not fabricate reports.

What you can request

  • A correction — a factual detail on a listing is wrong (e.g. the wrong brand name, wrong category, wrong domain).
  • A re-review — you believe the listing's verdict is not supported by the underlying evidence.
  • Context — you want additional information (e.g. an official statement from the brand) attached to a listing.
  • Removal — you believe the listing should not exist. This is the highest bar and is not guaranteed.

What ScamGuard can — and can't — promise

  • We can read every request that reaches the addresses below and reply from a human account.
  • We can correct, update, add context to, or remove a listing where the evidence supports that action.
  • We cannot guarantee any specific turnaround time. We aim to reply within a few business days but this is not a service-level commitment.
  • We cannot guarantee removal on request. A request is not a decision.
  • We do not operate a formal multi-stage appeal process, and we do not perform legal review of disputes ourselves. If a matter is legal in nature, seek independent legal advice; a formal legal notice should be sent to the same contact address and will be handled accordingly.

How to submit a request

Email research@scamguard.live from an address you can be reached at, and include the following so we can act on it:

  1. Identify the listing — the exact URL on ScamGuard (for example https://scamguard.live/u/example.com, or the domain / phone number as it appears on our site).
  2. State what you're asking for — correction, re-review, added context, or removal.
  3. Explain why — what specifically is wrong, misleading, or unsupported by the evidence on the page.
  4. Provide supporting information — anything that helps us verify: your relationship to the domain or brand, official channels (verified social profile, support address on the actual website), screenshots, a public statement, or dated evidence. Do not send passwords or private keys.

Submitting a request does not guarantee removal. After review, ScamGuard may correct, update, add context to, or remove information where appropriate; may leave the listing unchanged if the underlying evidence supports it; or may ask you for additional information.
